    Hello All,
I have recently run into a problem with my Linksys Wireless access point router. BEFW11S4 Ver 2. with Rogers High Speed Cable Internet.
It had been functioning quite reliably and then I lost my internet connection to not only the wireless but also the wired side of my network.
I was able to get it back up and running using the Linksys connection wizard and automatically obtaining an IP address. I was able to access internet and e-mail through the wired side of the router but on the "two" wireless computers I can only access my e-mail or connect to MSN Messenger. The web browser (IE) when launched tries to connect. Says it has found the web site and then hangs forever. I have tried stopping and refreshing the page to no avail. The signal strength to both wireless computers is fine and judging by the fact I can send and receive e-mail I know the connection works but am stuck as to how to get the browsers working again. Note Rogers doesn't support routers and won't help and Linksys tech help really didn't have a clue.
Any Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you

    HI,

Just a quick question, Have you tried another internet browser such as Mozilla, or Netscape.

    Thanks for the suggestion.
I gave it a try last night using Mozilla Firefox and lo and behold both wireless connections worked.
Now if I could only figure out why IE crapped out and how to repair it I'd be a happy man.
Until then at least I'm back on the web.
    Thanks again

Better off sticking with Mozilla but if you really want IE back go to tool > Internet options > connections > setup

run the setup wizard again to redo all your internet settings.

    Easiest way to do it

Make sure IE is not set to use proxies.

As well, disable third party browser extensions under advanced tab.

    Close and restart IE.

    Does it help?

Ok, except reset his IE internet settings.

you may want to run windos update and make sure you ge the latest version of IE also.

    Which ones?

Its a connection wizard, not something specific to IE, assuming this is Windows XP.

well the proxy ones first off, since it asks if you connect through a proxy.

Why does it matter it will help him either way. Other people can have correct answers too. Are you gonna tell him how to check his proxy settings also because he may not know, which is why I suggested the wizard.

Sure, I mention how seeing how the wizard will not check it, if this is XP.

    Go to tools, internet options.

    Click on the connections tab.

Click on the lan settings button.

    Verify NOTHING is checked.

If something is checked, uncheck it please.

    Very true.

But that wasn't one of em, provided this is Windows XP.

We need to know what OS this is.

That would work best, provided you have Windows XP.

Thank you to all who suggested solutions to my wireless and internet explorer problems.
I worked with the LAN settings as suggested and was able to recover the use of IE on both machines.
Thanks again for your time and shared knowledge.
