Alright, so, I have a Linksys Compact Wireless-G Adapter which comes with a "Connection Monitor" program. I used it on my old computer [XP]. However, when I switched to my new computer (It came with Vista), I no longer was able to access that Linksys monitor; I'm stuck using the built-in Vista monitor. That wouldn't really be a problem, but I think somehow it's causing issues with my gaming [CoD4 & CS:S]. I say this because the switch from Linksys monitoring to Vista monitoring is the only difference I can find. I even went to Linksys's website and the way it read, I should have the Linksys monitor...

So, my question is this: How do I stop Vista from automatically using it's monitor and allowing me to use the one included in the software?

    Adapter Model: WUSB54CG

Perhaps I should include what it's doing to my gaming experience.

CoD4: Master server list shows ping in the high hundreds to thousands when it really should be that high. Cable modem, just wirelessly routed. Once I'm in the game, the ping drops considerably. I've seen it go from 1,500 to 80. Also, occasionally during play I experience random lag-spikes even though my "signal strength" is almost always at 5/5 bars.

CS:S: The master server list shows under fifteen servers, at ANY given time of day, when we all know there are many, many more running.

Log to Vista Services and disable the Wireless Service.
