Anybody know the range of the above system? We're trying to get two computers to talk to each other, but aren't getting a connection. The "satellite" system sees the network, but can't log on. It says the signal strength is "51%." Is that too weak?

I think you need to give us a bit more details or should I say me, I'm not sure what you are trying to do and what you are trying to connect to. In the interim a wireless routers range depends on line of site, items in the home , and other interference from household items. On a good day you can get a signal 100 yards away sometimes it may be 50 feet. I need a bit more detail for a defenitive answer.

Well, what we have is a church building with one computer already on the router. The router is a separate piece up in the attic--a Cisco wireless access point. It's about 60 feet away from the computer, but there are a lot of walls and wires in that 60 feet. The one computer on the system already has a little rectangular Linksys adapter which has a cable plugged into one of the computer's USB ports. It works fine. We bought a Linksys USB adapter, same specs, for the other computer and followed the instructions to load the software and connect the adapter. It sees the network but fails to log on. It IS (and has to continue to be) password protected but we do have the password. It gets to the last step in the process, just doesn't seem to want to finalize the connection. I was thinking we need to get a range enhancer (?).

there are a couple of things you can try, one may fix your problem.
1.click on the flashing network icon bottom right of screen once it opens click on the properties tab (bottom) click on wireless network tab, make sure the check mark is in the box use windows to configure network click ok.
2.disable web encryption on router settings and see if you can connect without security if you can than the problem is with the encryption, change your passphrase
    3. start, run ,type cmd, at prompt type ipconfig/release once it is released type ipconfig/renew, once it is renewed see if it will connect.
    4. you mentioned a password, what is that password going to? do the other computers have this password.

60 feet is a little far, unless you have different antennas on the unit, and they are facing down through the ceiling. You are better off setting up multiple repeaters through out that cover all of the building. This could end up being 3 or 5 depending on how spotty. Otherwise, only choice is to run Cat-5e drops.
