    I have a Dell Dimensions 4700 and installed a Wireless - G PCI adapter.
The PC starts and runs and starts the Wireless and appears to get an IP address, then shortly later the screen freezes, you can move the mouse,, but clicks are not responded to, control alt delete will not bring up task manager, and you cannot select start for menu or to restart machine.
If you go to safe mode and select the Services Manager and place the WPM54Gv45SVG in to manual start from auto and then reboot to normal mode the mouse and computer seemed to stay functional until starting the Wirless function. This may not be entirely true, it just may take longer before the computer and mouse stop responding. I next tried disabling the hardware in Device manager, this seems to allow the the computer run but without a network. Re-enabling the devices just locks up the screen and mouse functions.
I cannot not see an IRQ conflict nor a memory one. May not know how to look at the right time.
    Can any one help?

Can you turn off the wireless source while you install the card, or move the pc away from it?

Yes I can do that. I could power down the wireless modem located in another room.

    Well try it then.

If the card is not installed or not installed properly this could be preventing boot. It's not clear whether you have ever had the card working or the pc woring since you fitted the card?

You may need to remove the card completely and start again.

    OK, I tried no luck.
History, I was able to uninstall, power down, remove card, shut down wireless source and repower. Installed software, powered down and installed PCI card. Powered up. Linksys utility opened, did the profile and saved. Restarted wireless source. The icon for wireless connection showed it found the wireless source and established an IP address. Then the computer locks up. You can move the mouse around, and you can select an icon and get an hour glass but nothing happens. I can not select start or get cntrl alt delete to bring up a manager window once it gets to this state. This happens very shortly after the ip address is established. As such I cannot really say if the wireless is working or not.

    Additional History.

Prior to this, the computer was configured for linksys USB wireless adapter. I had continued intermittent problems with the driver causing me to uninstall the Linksys software and reinstall to get it working. This USB issue would have a blue screen and a RT2500 driver error.
I was hoping the PCI card would eliminate having the USB problem but I am having difficulties getting it to run. The computer runs fine without it installed. I will try and reinstall the USB adapter and see if it runs.
