Linksys Wireless Print Server

I have a wireless linksys router and wirelss printserver models wrt54g and wps54g. I am trying to make my wireless print server work for a print job in say Word and when I print, it trys to access the internet through my router by running spoolsv.exe. This works fine when my router is set to access the internet during certain hours of the day. I have my router set to certain hours for internet access only so I can limit my teenage son. When my wife prints out something in Word during these hours, it will not work since the internet access time is blocked by the router. Is there any way to make the wiresless print server not attempt to open the internet by way of spoolsv.exe to print a "local document?"

What is the IP address of the wireless print server? Make sure that this IP is static, or at least "reserved."

The problem is with your PC, not your print server.

Set your pc's to print directly to the ip address of the print server, by setting up a "standard TCP/IP port" in the printer properties.

Most likely you are trying to print to the print servers name, so the first thing your PC is trying to do is resolve the name to an IP address. So your PC (not the print server) tries to contact your DNS servers. That's why it's going out to the internet.

Another option is to put a host file on the system you are trying to print from that resolves the name to the IP of the print server.

I have the printer port configured for ip_198.168.1.78 which is the static address of the print server and it still goes to the internet through the router. I am running xp. What else can I do?
