I just installed Linux Mint 7 Gloria because one of my friends recommended it. He said there's a Window's emulator on it, and I can't find it. Can anybody tell me if there is such an emulator and, if there is, where is it?

I bet she's talking about WINE. It allows you to run Windows applications in a Linux environment. You should be able to install it through the package manager if you don't have it already.

Wine or VirtualBox. I am running a full XP vitrual and attempted IE7 with playonlinux and Wine. VirtualBox took some tweaking and if I leave it running will crash my system (I have 8 GB of RAM, and allocated half to Win32). Wine does not render pages fully in IE 7 so far.

wine should be installed by default in mint, if not you can install it from the package manager as stated above, then what you'll need to do is:
    open the terminal
cd into the directory you have your windows .exe file stored
    type wine nameofprog.exe

wine should automatically start and run the exe
