Linux Geek Wanted

I WANT TO BE ABLE TO INSTALL LINUX ON ONE OF MY OLD COMPUTERS I HAVE LAYING AROUND. NOW I KNOW A BIT ABOUT LINUX NOT THAT MUCH. I WANT TO KNOW IF ANYONE COULD TELL ME WHAT KINDA OF LINUX IS BEST AND HOW TO PROGRAM MY COMPUTER TO RUN IT. SO FAR I AM A BIG FAN OF KNOPPIX AND I THINK IS GREAT, BUT I TRIED TO INSTALL IT BUT DON'T KNOW HOW...I TRIEND

BUT TELL ME TO PARTICION MY HARD-DRIVE I DONE SO, BUT I STILL GET THE ERROR THAT I HAVEN'T MET THE SPECS TO RUN IT....SO I REALLY NEED HELP ON THIS....

PLZ....HELP!!!!!! I WOULD BE GREATFUL....

 

Are your specs enough to run it?

 

On one of my linux distributions (I didnt set this up and don't know much more to help you I'm afraid) there are a series of partitions... /tmp /var /usr and even / are all on different partitions of specific sizes...
I can look into what these sizes are and get back to you if you want... it could be that is the problem

 

What are your machine specs?

Also when anyone else reads that in all caps do you imagine this person yelling the questions at you? lol I do.

Well I was writing in caps because I was jelling out of fraustration...But I already got the whole Linux thing....don't need any help....thanks guys.....
