    Hi,
I'm gonna be doing a small re build soon hopefully, and i thought id try out "debian linux" I thought about doing boot from CD but idk should i do it that way or just create the installation CD? Which ever would be easier.

Either way could i use a normal data CD or do i have to burn to a DVD?
Exactly how is it done anyway, do i just burn the ISO file to the CD/DVD and that's it??

Once i have what i need on a CD/DVD and I'm ready to boot from CD or install, Just do the boot from CD device in bios right?? Or not? lol.

Well, running from CD is slow but is a good way to see what you're getting without installing a dual-boot.

As to the rest, yes burn as ISO, I don't know the size, to appropriate sized media and boot to CD/DVD in BIOS is correct.

Oh gawd no! I'll assume these are optional apps. Try the following http://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/5.0.3/i386/iso-cd/debian-503-i386-kde-CD-1.iso, that should be the complete CD. Man, I've never seen so many options!:eek Better wait for a knowledgeable Debian user.;)

I use Ubuntu(Debian based), you might like that better as it's more Windows like and easier to use than some that I've tried.

Ya sure bio, Ubuntu download page and here's IMGBurn , an easy to use and free burner. Make sure to have it verify the disk and burn it at the slowest speed available. Have fun!

Oh, I'll be around for a couple of hours if you need help.

CD, you should be just fine as the file is 690MB. Anyways, IMGBurn will tell you if the CD is too small. Unless you still have the old 650MB CD's, then you won't be able to burn on one of those.

if you want debian then you only need cd 1 (maybe cd 2 - depending on how easy you want it) as the rest are additional software,

be aware that the additional software can be downloaded through the software manager - which will be on cd 1,

you may find it easier using the dvd version of debian as it has a few cd's combined

Did you install from Wubi, or did you create a new partition?
