I am using Linux 12.04.5 LTS. When I select a link OUTSIDE my Firefox browser, i.e. an e-mail, it always takes me to http://lxle.net/support-options/ rahter than the link. Any suggestions would be grately appreciated.

Since it is not a distro run in large numbers, you might get better support at its forum

Plodr's advice is good. Kudos on your selection of LXLE, which is a nice, lightweight, and well-integrated distro that runs very well on older & lower-specced machines. One of the best I have seen at rejuvenating old hardware! I am familiar with LXLE and have it installed on a machine. I like it a LOT, but I have never seen this issue, nor even heard of it, on ANY distro. I can only assume it is specific to LXLE.

It almost sounds as if you have Firefox set to open links in a new tab, but the new tab incorrectly loads the LXLE default homepage (which is the support page). If this isn't a corrupted setting in Firefox, I think you may have found a bug in LXLE.

Some things to try on your own first:
    1. Install Chrome or Chromium to see if they duplicate the Firefox behavior. If they do NOT, we can narrow in on Firefox as a culprit; and you can switch to Chrome/Chromium or we can try to fix Firefox.
    2. Open up the terminal and type or copy/paste the following in the terminal:
this should remove ALL firefox files, including config files, etc... We want to remove any & all traces of potentially corrupted files and settings. Beware that you WILL LOSE all bookmarks, history, saved passwords, and anything else you have set or changed in Firefox.
    3. Reboot computer.
    4. Upon reboot/startup, re-install Firefox from Software Center. If the described behavior continues, I believe it is likely an LXLE bug.

I am very curious as to how this gets resolved, as I have never seen this behavior in Firefox before, in any Linux distro, Windows, or a Mac. Is LXLE 12.04.5 a recent release that may have introduced the bug you describe? Ronnie, the distro developer at LXLE is usually a pretty helpful guy who seems to really know his stuff. Me, on the other hand...this is all I've got to offer you right now. Please post here as to how the problem gets resolved, as I'd like to know if it's a Firefox issue or an LXLE issue.
