Linux Question?

Just wondering what the preference for linux is around here. a friend said he prefers either Mandrake, or Suse..... just wondering which one has better support.

 

mandrake is better for beginners, suse is a bit more hard core

 

ive been noticing that... ive been messing around with mandrakego.. or whatever its called. that way i could try it out before actually loading it up.

 

id also reccomend knoppix, run s from cd, and a bit better than mandrke go

 

i know... at the moment i have a friend dloading it fer me cuz i am without a connection... man i am jonesin fer some bandwidth, but thank you fer yer advice

 

I've been using Mepis. It is based on Debian. It also can run off just a cd.

There is one little problem with configuring the file
/etc/host.conf
if you are on dial-up (like me). But don't fear, I already have been down that road. If you install knoppix to hdd (yes, you can, in two different ways). Then PM me or post if you want and I can work you through the appropriate nameserver configuration. Then you'll be ready to rock-n-roll, my man
