linux swapping

i have linux installed on one of my older pc's, and would like to remove the hardrive from that older pc and ave it installed on my new pc's which already has a drive with win 2k. How can i safely install the drive with linux and access it

The big problem will be mounting the partitions on boot-up, you will probably ahve to edit /etc/fstab, for example if it is the primary hard drive and when you move it over it will be the slave you will need to change hda, to hdb, etc. That's all I can think of right now... You'll also need a boot loader FYI, I recommend GAG (You can get it at MG)

 

ok so far i have just installed the drive, and havent had time to do anything

any guides on what else to do

I fear im about to open a can of worms just because i wanna run linux on a faster pc

Nah, Linux is run on main frames, etc. etc. etc. I know people that run it on Quad Xeons' etc. So trust me, it's not.

what do u mean by edit/fstab can u pls specify as to what to do or where to get a manuel on how to succesfully transfer the drive?

/etc/fstab is a file, for more info do man fstab or just read it and check what it looks like, for the moving of hard drives I can't do Hardware at all so someone else step in
