I need to install Windows on a Tecra 8100 in lieu of Linux. Do I need to find an older version of Windows? Is this even possible? I bought an old Toshiba for my mom that is loaded to the gills with junk. I am trying to clean the system to no avail. The add/remove function is giving me a headache. The Laptop is in excellent condition otherwise. Specs are Linux Ubantu o/s, 249 mb ram, pent III, 7.9 gb, any help would be awesome ty . :cry

Ouch, P111, 256MB and 8GB drive? XP will run on that, barely tolerable as I had about the same specs 7 years ago, besides XP will take up some 2GB of your drive if you kill hibernation and reign in the restore points. Try installing Ubuntu 9.04 instead, it's much more user friendly and Windows like. If mom's dead set against *nix, then you might be able to go Windows 2000 if you can find it. Good luck man.

Sounds like you need to hit the Windows forum , But I'd run 98 or win2g , Windows 2000 would run great on those specs.
