Lithium-Ion Battery charging tips?

I have a Dell D600 that I just bought a battery for. I would like this one to last as long as possible. Any tips on making them last longer?

I read somewhere that you should discharge then fully before charging. Is this true?

One tip: Don't leave the battery in the computer all the time, even when you're using the computer. In other words, run the computer off your AC adapter anytime an outlet is available.

I'm assuming your laptop will run that way. My Compaq does, and I often use it that way.

BTW, did you get a much lower price by buying the generic brand?

That's a huge savings. I haven't replaced my laptop battery yet but I expect I'll have to do it soon. I recently discovered a source where I can get a battery for my laptop at about the same price you got yours.
