Little Software Problem

I installed my old scanning software while running Windows XP. When I went to re-boot, I got to the screen and menu then a screen came up saying there is either hardware or software incompatible with Windows and it is shutting down to protect my computer. I tried starting in the Safe Mode and the same thing happened. Then I tried starting in the "last configuration that worked mode' and it still reboots before I can get into the menu to un-install the software causing the problem. What do I do? Do I need to disable something in BIOS? Do something with the XP CD?

    Thanks

    what scanner are you using?

certain older scanners do not have software updates compatible with XP, but will still work using XP's built in scanning capabilities.

if you let us know the model, we can tell you if has XP software. If not, try uninstalling the software, and just pressing the scanner's start button. XP should give you a pop-up asking you what you want to do. good luck!

The Scanners about 5 years old but really does nice work. Almost impossible to tell the difference between a photo and a scanned image on photo paper. Problem is I can't stay in the menu long enough to un-install the software. Computer goes to a screen telling me I have incompadable hardware or software and is shutting down so it will not damage my computer. Is there another way to de-install the software I've tried SAFE Mode and Last workable configuration.

    Thanks

thats the exact scanner i had:p

so as I had said, there is no XP software for it, it simply works by pressing the green scan button.

as for un-installing your previous software... i cant say i've heard of that software incompatibility screen:( and if safe-mode doesnt work, i'm not really sure what you could do....

    more help anyone?

From time to time changing the port setting in the BIOS will help with that quandry. HP's can be picky and it will cause conflict. Hope this help you out..it's all I can think of at this time.
