Live.ca - alternate e-mail problem

I opened a live.ca account in 2007, but rarely used it.
Back then, I entered a Sympatico (ISP) e-mail address as my alternate e-mail address.

Fast forward to now...
I've decided to use this live.ca account as my main e-mail address now.

I switched from Sympatico ISP to Cogeco Cable a year ago.
I had forgotten about the Sympatico addy being my alternate in live.ca. I looked for answers on the site and tried to add a different active e-mail as instructed and delete the inactive address, but it won't allow me. It asks for my inactive Sympatico password and it doesn't work.

Is there a way I can add a new alternate address and possibly delete the old inactive Sympatico addy that remains stuck?
