Live Messenger uninstall help please

Hi i have been trying for some time to remove the MSN messenger from my pc new i am seaking help my pc will not unistall the messenger 7.0 or 7.5 they are both still there and every time i go into the add remove and click remove this messege comes up.

"This patch package could not be opened, Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer patch package.

I have also tyred to download the latest one and this will not install as it cant remove the oil one from my pc.

Has anyone got any ideas on this or had the same problem?
