LIve Search UGH!!

I have no idea how i got the damn thing but can someone tell me how to get rid of it?
I get constant popups with live search... when I am on webpages...

Just go to the add/remove program in the control panel

 

There is no Live Search listed in add remove programs.
Also.. I noticed that the list is way strange. It seems to have a ton more icons than before. There are lots of little blue "computer" icons .. things like 1600, buffer chm, CreativeProjects, CueTour, DAO, Destinations, Director, PanoStandAlone, QFolder, MarketResearch, etc.. does that sound familiar to anyone? NOne of them give me the "remove" option.

I think you need to work through this thread http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35407 If you are still having problems after that, make a post in the Malware Forum and include the attachments as described in the thread.


Also you probably need to update your version of JRE Java as I think you will find it is an old version allowing malware in. You need to uninstall your current version FIRST if it is not the latest. The latest can be downloaded from here http://www.majorgeeks.com/Sun_Java_Runtime_Environment_d4648.html

 

Ok something is not working right. There are only a few of the programs in add remove programs that will even allow removal. I have no option for most of them, including Java... Any ideas on this one?

If you have trouble removing JRE from the control panel, use the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility here, http://www.majorgeeks.com/Windows_In...ity_d4459.html Run the tool and select the JRE entry for removal.

Then you should be able to update JRE as Lev suggested.

BTW gofergal, some of those entries are HP and Digital Camera software so don't go crazy removing stuff.

Thanks for the great suggestions. I just wanted to post and let you know I actually got so frustrated i did a system restore.. and everything looks normal. I dont know what update changed it but it literally did away with my uninstall option.
