I'M SOOO FRUSTURATED!!:cry I updated my windows media player to ver. 11. Everything is working except getting the live feed video stream. I love watching the channel island eagles - NOW I CAN'T! I keep going over the proxy settings per the advice from the web help button. Now, I don't know what else to do.

which op system are you using.
I found a windows media 11 help article that indicates that there are 2 vista versions on wmp 11 that do not include live streaming.

Why can't Windows Media Player stream content from my server by using MMS?
In some cases, a Player that does not support MMS streaming (such as Windows Media Player 11) may be unable to stream your content for one of the following reasons:

    *
The Player successfully selected an alternate streaming protocol during protocol rollover, but the Windows Media server that is hosting your content does not have the control protocol plug-in for the selected streaming protocol (either RTSP or HTTP) enabled. Note that the WMS HTTP Server Control Protocol plug-in that manages HTTP streaming is disabled by default in Windows Media Services. For more information, see "Control Protocol Category" in Windows Media Services Help.
    *
The Player successfully selected an alternate streaming protocol during protocol rollover, but the Windows Media server cannot deliver the content through your firewall. For more information about opening ports on your firewall for the streaming protocols that might be selected during protocol rollover (either RTSP or HTTP), see Firewall Information for Windows Media Services 9 Series.
    *
The Player cannot use protocol rollover to select an alternate streaming protocol because streaming protocols and proxy settings are not configured correctly on the Network tab in the Player. For more information, see "Setting network options" in Windows Media Player Help.

Thanks for the post! I guess that would have been helpful to include the os, etc. I'm on xp sp2, fios isp and firefox. I thought the firefox plug-in for wvp would help and no it didn't. Running everything else thru wvp works.
Really, thnx for your time with this :wave

Well, my troubles are over for now, cuz' the computer that had the problem finally died. It was absolutely fatal. I tried to restore and repair, it was no good. So I ended up buying a new computer. Let me look at the vista requirements for the protocal, etc. I'll post in a moment. If I can figure that out.

I tried to change the protocal settings, etc for XP media player 11 and it never did correct the live stream problem.

ok - first, i'm using the firefox browser which i prefer to i.e.
    and, i'm running the firefox wmp11 plug-in.
double check the following in the "more options" section ( if you haven't already a 100 times like i did with xp rolleyes
    Look in Network tab
    this should be checked:
    RTSP/UDP
    RTSP/TCP
    HTTP
"allow the player to receive multicast..."
    Proxy should be set at
    HTTP to Browser
    RTSP is None
My guess is you've already done all that.
Also, check for the last wmp 11 updates
(like you didn't think of that too, already :(

let me know what happens, pam

Ive sorted it now, my laptop is running a 32bit system and somwhere along the line I had updated to flashplayer 10 which wont run on 32 bit correctley, so I used recovery disc and just reloaded windows then checked in system 32 and the original flash player installed is flash player 9, I can now stream anywhere with no problem, thanks for your help though.

yeh, mine wouldn't configuire either but after reloading windows it will now, try checking in C drive, open the windows file then open system 32 then open the file named macromed and then open flash you should have a file that is called flasUtil9e. If you have flash10 installed then you have the same problem as I did, good luck

I've got all that. I think my problem is with the actual downloaded file. I burned a homemade video, wps file, pix, and a song that was straight from wmp 11 sample AND ripped from a cd.

So, I thinks it's a mp3 encode issue. I'm not sure how to get around that.

    We'll see.
