It drives traffic towards Google instead of drawing it away.

It borders on trademark infringment but if you were making 1% more money from it, and it was popular, would you complain? especially when you're supposedly against internet censorship and it would make for bad press?

i'm not sure it "drives" anything toward google. it intercepts people who thought they were ON google, slaps on an ad, and hands them BACK to google.

like standing in front of the McD's drive-thru and offering to "deliver" stuff from the window to the car waiting IN FRONT OF the window....

gives "portal" a whole new meaning!

 

It's so you can be a smartass. Seriously. If you've ever given the answer "did you try to use a search" you could replace that with going to lmgtfy.com, putting in the search query, then providing the result.
