Loading Word onto a HP Mini 110-3130NR?

Hi, I purchased a used HP Mini for my granddaughter to use in college and didn't even think about the installation of Word/PowerPoint/Excell etc. I have Word etc on discs but the Mini does not have a disc/dvd drive. Is there a way to install those packages?

 

Yes, you'll either need to network your HP Mini to a larger computer and install over the network or get an external CD/DVD disc drive. Software can be installed from USB flash drives but I don't know that will work for MS Office due to the large size of MS Office; in other words, it won't fit on most flash drives.

Apparently, you have a larger computer, one with a DVD drive, so I would use the network method if you have a router.

NOTE: I presume you have the proper license agreement to install MS Office on multiple computers. You don't want to cause problems (encountering an illegal installation of MS Office) for your granddaughter after she gets to college.

Edit: By the way, if you cannot legally install your MS Office on her computer, college students can usually get big discounts of MS Office and other software; they can get it at their college bookstore.

 

Thank you for you quick reply. Yes, I do have a larger computer and proper license agreement for the MS Office. I also have a 500 gb external drive available. Before I go this route though I will ask her about getting the software from the bookstore because I just took the computer to her yesterday - 3 hr drive one way.
