Hello, I've just built myself a new system and the only os I had to load was windows xp sp1...

did that and was gonna update it from microsofts site or w.e so I plugged my ethernet in from my linksys router and went to network connections to enable the local area connection but only the 1394 connection was there.. I went through the *my computer->manage->device manager-> network adapters.. no question marks.. only the 1394 is listed

new to starting from scratch so any advice?
