    Hi

Its added as part of the Click to Run feature of Office 2010 beta, funny enough doesnt show in the RTM (release version of Office 2010)

But to hide it you will have to edit the registry, or just leave it as it does no harm until you migrate to Office 2010 release version.

If you want to hide it then I will post some registry entries to allow it to hide.

    Hi

What Windows version and Service Pack do you have? (just like to know the version in case there are instructions on the registry keys etc that may need to be different) but open Regedit (click start > Run they type regedit and hit enter *or if Vista/Win7 type in the Start Search box regedit and hit enter) NOTE: if you are not used to editing the registry take care as being in the wrong location and enteringt eh wrong data can cause your Windows to not work correctly, so backup the registry and tips HERE

    Navigate to this registry key
    KCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

then you will need to create a new DWORD key, just right click in the right hand Window and choose New > DWORD (32bit value) then name it NoDrives double click it to open then in the Value box (click Decimal if not already chosen) and enter the Value Data of 65536 then close Regedit and reboot.

This only does it for the current user account if you wish to make it system wide then do the same as above but in this location

    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

All it does it to remove the drive but allows Click to Run to still work.

Hi, sorry about this. I did everything you said, rebooted and Local Disc Q is still there. I'm on Windows 7 and I don't have any service pack installed.

Any other way to get rid of it?

    Thanks.

hi mate but take this astep further if this local disc q is part of office 2010 beta which is supposed to time out next month.then you will find you need to visit microsoft to get a utility prog to wipe completely from pc .

    Cheers guys for the updates.

I have already migrated to Office 2010 Pro Plus and its not now visable, but did work for me on one of the betas, may have been before your version. Office 2010 is superb and been using it now for 4 months and much better layout and options to that of 2007 which was a better step up from Office 2003.
