    Hello all

Does anyone have any idea where the cmos battery is located on an Acer Aspire 4925G laptop.

Thought I would ask here first before I get screwdriver happy.

    ta.:)

According to google, and Acer.com, the model number 4925G doesn't exist...? :confused

It's usually in the service guide, if you can get your hands on one, though.

    Hi Mimsy

I have been using google to find it but only get photos of the outside, I could not find it in Acer website, I have no manuals or anything,

but it does say Acer Aspire 4925G on the laptop itself (weird)

maybe it a grand version of a 4925 series, I really dont know, I was given the system and have been unable to get it running.

    cheers

Well, that explains why neither the European or US Acer website knew about it. :-D

Let's see what we can find next... off to google again!

It is probably an Asian model, because I also saw mention of it in an article from Thailand.

I can't find an acer-asia site though. I thought even if I find documents for something close, like 4925, probably the board is almost identical. I have not found a motherboard image yet.

I looked on this site yesterday http://www.worldsofgadgets.co.cc/2009/05/acer-aspire-4730zg-review.html
the Aspire 4925 is from around October 2008 so I searched for anything Acer. Sadly, no links to any documentation.

The link in the article leads here
    http://www.acer.com.sg/products/aspire4925G/
which is a dead end. Page not found.

Like plodr, I have not been very lucky in my search either... :(

I did find that a very common location for the CMOS battery on other Aspire models is near the upper edge of the keyboard. On some, you also need to remove the upper bezel, but not always. The battery is connected to the motherboard with two small wires that are held together with what looks like tape. I don't have an Acer laptop, but it sounds very similar to the CMOS battery set-up on my Compaq laptop.

I just got home from work and I am hungry enough that I'm hallucinating pizza slices, but once I've had dinner I'll go find my laptop and take off the keyboard and try to get a photo of the wires for you. That way you'll know what to look for. :)

    Hello All

blimey you have all been really busy on this one.

when I get home I will start haveing a look inside,

the main reason for looking for the battery is to reset the bios, I have tried different recovery programs, but nothing works, I cannot get into the bios at all.

    thanks again to all involved.

When I was doing google searching for info on your laptop, I came across a couple articles and forum posts stating that to reset BIOS password on an Aspire, it's not always enough to reset the CMOS... apparently they store the password elsewhere. If that's the case with your laptop, you might have to beg Acer to help you reset it... :(
