lock on pictures

I recently burned some pictures to a dvd for some friends on my windows 7 laptop. Now when I go into my pictures, the thumbnails of only some of my pictures have little lock icons at the bottom. Why did this happen and how do I fix it, hopefully without doing each one individually? In the enclosed desktop capture, the properties box on the far right is for a picture that does not have a lock, the one on the left is the properties of one that does contain the lock.

 

Did you move the pictures from one computer to another? That is a common way that this happens, the items on the second computer are owned by the creator on the first computer.

That said, taking ownership of the files or folders should remove the lock icons.

I've used the reg hack on many computers, works fine. It also comes with a remove hack if you ever need/want to remove this functionality...

 

Thank you, I tried the MS way you mentioned, and all seems well now (I'm always reluctant to say something's fixed LOL).
