I don't know where this would go but you know how you can add passwords to folders? Well, I zipped up my folder for my fanfics a few months ago because other people were using my computer and I didn't want to take the risk of having anyone getting into my stuff and being complete morons by doing their own changes. Well, months later until today, I stupidly used a password I'll never remember in the future and I an locked out by my own password. I can't do work on anything in that folder. Is there any way I can fix this? Stupid Windows doesn't give you a password reminder or anything. I have Windows XP Media Edition.

So you have a zipped file (winzip?) with a password that you don't remember. Well I'm pretty sure that your only way to get in is with a brute force password recovery tool. As the whole point of the password is so someone cant get in. So if there was a tool that could easily figure out the password, the password would be pretty useless.

With a bit of searching the only tools i could find cost money, around $30. But there probably is a free one out there, just search for it.

Just hope you didn't pick too strong of a password and a brute force tool will work fine ;)

If it's a zipped folder that is password protected, you'll have to use an app to 'crack' the password. There are several progs available that will do this, but they can take some time as there is no way to extract the password from the folder (as far as I know). The prog will have to 'hack' the password with various attacks: brute force, dictionary, sequential, random, etc... And, as far as I know, the only free app available is called Turbo Zip Cracker v0.3.... there's other versions of this same prog, but I'm not sure they're free. If you Google 'zip password recovery' you'll get TONS of links to programs that'll do the job, but most (if not all) of 'em want $$$. The demo versions usually only recover passwords 2 or 3 characters long, or they get the password and then ask for money to show it to you. LAME! Let us know how this goes 'cuz I have a movie (my friend has the movie) that's protected with a WinRAR password (same thing as WinZIP) that we can't watch.... GOOD LUCK!
