Locked out of router

So i have the linkys E1000 and I turn it on to set it up and its already set up with a network name and pasword that i dont know. i tried the ip address and the default linkys admin stuff no luck still locked out. so cam anyone please help i just want to login and set up a passcode for the wireless. oh its called quietdove if that helps

 

Gonna have to reset the route to default, and resetup your options then.

 

Sounds like someone set it up with the CD already. You see a wireless network with the name quietdove? The network key for that is the password.

If you don't know who set it up or don't know the password and you have no way of getting it your only option for getting into that device is to start over and reset it.

So say your roommate is in Europe for a semester and you got an ipad for Christmas and you just want to use it in your apartment on the connection that you both pay for but your roommate setup. You never needed the setup or the wireless password before and now you're bummed at the thought of being tethered to the router by a cable. You can always go buy another wireless router, attach via ethernet and set up your own wireless.
(maybe TimW or chaslang or one of the other super geeks can confirm that would work. Just don't name the new network quietdove!)

 

Using a second router would create a double nat situation and would be less then ideal. Follow the reset instructions here http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.a...4402584c959a7251e754c_4008.xml&pid=96&slnid=2 and that should get you back to a default state.
