locked up installing 2000 Pro over XP Home on HP zx5000 laptop ( jumper on MB??)

    I purchased an HP Pavilion ZX5000 laptop with XP home but now I want to load Win 2000 Pro. I installed Win 2000 Pro but the laptop locks up on the startup screen. Is there a jumper setting on the mother board that I can set so that it will install or is there some firmware that must be changed at the service center?

    So, I'm guessing you formatted and clean installed 2K?? Please go into more detail about this.

    There is no jumper on the motherboard that needs to be changed for software, no.
