i take it this is points manager linked to kazaa yes

you do not need this running all the time goto start-run-msconfig-start-up and uncheck the box you can manually start the application when needed

this should help you when not using the software but maybe you need to uninstall and re-install the program to solve any corruptions etc

You might want to try this program to make sure Kazaa is completely uninstalled from your system:

peer points manager is installed with kazaa and seeing as you have uninstalled kazaa i would imagine this is the reason for the random lock-ups with this program
so please follow alancs advice to make sure kazaa is completly gone and there should be a listing in add/remove programs for peer points manager uninstall this and i would suggest running your regcleaner afterwards as well
if you havent got one theres plenty to choose from at the main majorgeeks site http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads15.html

    Hello,

Check for missing vxd driver files under device manger click mouse or any device properties and see if there are any [mouse.vxd] bracketed files. If so, you may stop these lock ups with the link below. regards,

    ran kazzaa begone

i had run kaxzzaa begone but did ait again to be sure and it said nothing found

Then when I was doing a search for device manager i saw it was stil there so i used add/remove programs to get rid of it and for now at least the problem seems to be alleviated.

I cant tell if I have any drivers missing but will loat the patch you linked to .

I run Norton systemworks a friend said its junk and may cause more problems than its worth . Any opinions???

Thanks again for the ideas and the help!!!!!

I agree with robo. Once Norton gets it's clutches into your system, it practically takes an excorcism to get it removed! And Norton Antivirus is not worth the trouble, IMO. You'd be better off with free AVG.

However, having said that, IF you have the version of NSW (pro version???) that comes with Norton Ghost, that's a very handy program for making drive image backups of your hard disk. And, from what I understand, GoBack is also a nice tool for disaster recovery with Win '98, a la System Restore in XP.
