I was just in the lounge, typing a message, when everything just locked up. Couldn't move the cursor, couldn't open TM, nothing! Had to do a hard reboot. Went to event viewer, nothing at all in the logs.

Anything I should look for? Any other diagnostics?

    Hi

If nothing in event logs then its hard to troubleshoot, I would just see if it happens again and then would be a process of....

What browser used and is it upto date, run it in its safe mode/no addons, and see if it happens again.

Use msconfig to disable all startups and see if one caused this.

Boot so safe mode with networking to test.

    Do malware scans.

But tbh, I would leave alone until it happens again, may just have been a clitch and possible two apps decided to say run scans or background tasks at same time, but a random lockup would be very hard to find a cause.

Thanks Halo, but it's a brand new reformat/install, in fact I have the computer just to finish up on the wireless drivers.
If it happens again, could one possible solution be to remove and plug back in the ram boards? That's the only thing on a laptop I could think of regarding the hardware possibilities.
