Last week I updated a PC from Windows 7 to Windows 10. Ever since the update instead of loading the screen where the person switching on the PC is given the option of the three User Accounts the PC boots up and opens directly in one user account. It is always the same account. The account does not have administrator privileges. I have gone into Control Panel>User Accounts and can find no setting that would cause this or which I could change to prevent it.

Why could my PC be doing this? Is there a way to stop it?

In Windows 10, go to Settings -> Account -> Family and other users then click on Set up assigned access. You should be able to make changes there.

The only two options given are to change the account type or to remove the account. There is no set up assigned access option.

I can't see any obvious way to tell 10 which is the main or default account. Is it possible that this was the active account when the upgrade was carried out?

Another thought - make sure all user accounts require a password.

    Control Panel > User Accounts
You should be able to see and manage all existing user accounts there.

Definitely not. It was done in my account, which is the sole one with administrator privileges. All changes to any PC in the household are done in my account.

I can but there is no option to change any priority over which account opens. I don't think any should but when you boot-up all accounts should appear for logging on.

I now understand and the solution is when you boot-up the log on screen offers you the last account that was logged on, as it did in Windows 8. If that account does not have a password the PC automatically logs on to that account. So, there are two options. The first is to give each account a password so the PC cannot automatically open on the last user's account or use the fix in #7.

Does the problem only occur when Fast Startup is enabled?

I don't know. Fast Startup was on; it is the default option. I've turned it off following the instructions at the provided link. I'm doing something that won't allow me to restart right now to I'll try it later and report back with the results.

I have turned off Fast Startup; however, it has not resolved the problem. So that was not the reason on my PC. I've yet to attempt the workround in post #8 from MaxTurner, so I may still have a possible fix.
