I am looking for software that will search you hard drive and find any spy software that may be running in stealth mode (ie like spy agent and things like that). if any body knows of any please let me know. Thanks

    sorry...i misread your post.

i can't think of any software that will allow you to detect keylogger programs. someone else may have an idea.

in the meantime, you may want to stay out of the chat rooms and such.

please take no offense to my comment. But perhaps you should talk with your spouse about it. It sounds like there is a trust issue that needs to be resolved. I've seen first hand what this can do to a marriage and it's not pretty. Best of luck to you.

    thanks
yes i have already talked to him he says that he has not done that so i just want to find out there has been a trust issue everysince we been dating (never given a reason for lack of trust other than what has happened to him in the past (other girlfriends think 25 years together will tell him that i am not like them)

i guess if you really wanted to find out (I wouldn't do this though) is to install a keylogger yourself, then check it every once and a while. it would show you if he himself is watching you with a keylogger. bad thing about this is, if he is using one, he'll know it as soon as he checks his (that is if he is using one). but like i said, i don't recommend doing this. if he has a reason to follow what you are doing while online, maybe you should change your online habits, that way he doesn't need to know what you are doing.

    my 2 cents.

I don't mean to get off into a tangent here about all of this, but usually the person who is untrusting is the person who should not be trusted and not the other way around. Though, not giving him any thing to use against you is a good idea.

I've seen the computer literally wreck marriages, so please be careful.

    Conspiracy alert?

Would a quick check of the programs installed render a list of software that you could benignly search for?, e.g., use Add/Remove Programs from the Control Panel or look at the sub-folders under Program Files on the main drive.

In any case if there are no keyloggers one can look at the Internet History, cache, application logs or even Firewall logs, etc, ... There are still tracks everywhere. Even deleted files don't really get deleted straight away.

Anyway, aren't we all being monitored: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/1357513.stm

Woah, who's that?!? Jumpy around here...

checking the add and remove software would only work if the program is not running in stealth mode and some programs you can change the name of it tomake it look like it suppose to be there . I have check the registries and found some specious looking programs going to run the anti-keylogging program tonight and see if it finds anything. (i really hope not to find anything)

Why am I thinking that it is pointless checking for a key logger - do you check all the other places where you may leave tracks and clear them out too plus overwrite the hard drive areas where files have been deleted? Did you look at the Applog directory for recent application activity, recent file lists in the registry and in his/yours Documents, Start Menu, Desktop, etc.?

AdAware doesn't clean out all tracks since, for example, running Spybot Search & Destory after AdAware shows some stuff not touched by AdAware and vice-versa.

Don't want to be nosey but what gave rise to the situation in the first place? Slow application response? Innocuous remark that may have related to something you've done on the computer? Funds missing from your credit card/bank account? Maybe it is possible to view from another angle.

Hope you find (or rather not find) what you're looking for.

It is not pointless checking for keyloggers.........you just need the right program!
Download the trial version of TDS-3 and update. To date(and there are updates every day!) it detects over 350 keyloggers:D .

Don't believe me..........try it and be amazed at the capabilities of this program;) .

I don't doubt that there are such tools but the point I was trying to make was you don't have to rely on a key-logger to track activity. Even if you just limit covert activity to your PC there are tracks external to your PC.

Another point, like a virus checker, the tools that you mention will always be trying to catch-up with the competition and it may be that the key-logger detector isn't 100% perfect thus both false positives and negatives are likely to occur.

Finally, who cares what you do as long as it isn't illegal.

    I'm not ranting, am I?
