Had xp home for about 2yr and I've never had to login..just booted up. Now every 10 min of inactivity the login window comes up asking to choose . There is only one user. Me, administater. This just started about 3 days ago. I did install a grouper program about then. Don't know if that has anything to do with it. I have taken the check out of the have to have password box which I've never had to use anyway.....anyone know whats up..

Are you running a screen saver set for 10 mins?

If you installed the .NET framework it will create a user account. If this is the case just go into User Accounts.

That sounds odd - almost like a virus or something. Have you tried to boot into safe mode and then check the Users and Passwords in the control panel?
It might be interesting to see what's showing up there

When I boot up in safe mode in the user accounts, there are 3.
    Administrator computer admin
    lb-computer administrator
    guest is off
when I boot up the normal way there are 3 also
    lb-computer administrator
    ASP.Net Machine A..."s Account
    Guest is off
I have Trend's PC-cillin which scans my puter every 12 hours.
House Trend did not find any virus
Spy Bot did not find any
    Ad-Aware did not find any
    stinger did not find any
so what do I do now..

On my pc, there are two accounts - mine, which is an admin account, and the administrator account that only shows up when I boot into safe mode. I have the guest account disabled. If you are the only one on your PC, you should only need the one account that you use. It is normal to see an administrator account in addition to your own when in safe mode (you should password protect this account, by the way, in addition to your normal account).
I am not sure what a "grouper" program is. My advice would be to (while in normal mode) delete any account you are not using or did not create yourself. I deleted the ASP.net account on my PC with no ill effects.
I suggest this with caution - by the way, did all of these accounts exist before you started having the problem? Also, is your PC updated with the latest service packs and such for Win XP?

I have since deleted the asp account with no seeming results. I did not have this account added before I installed the grouper program which allows you to be connected to other puters to share "whatever". I guess a peer to peer like program but just to the people you "know". Kinda like Kazaa used to be
Boot up normal just shows LB computer admin and guest account is off.
Boot up saft shows the same thing.
I have sp1. I had put sp2 but had major proplems with OE and windows media player...called ms tech support 2x and they said since I have my own firewall and antivirus program I didn't need sp2..perhaps they are not as smart as they should be..I have since received the sp2 disk in the mail but have not installed it.
