This is an odd one. Helping out a coworker with a pc problem here, when loging in, the desktop appears for about one second and logs back off. Thinking to myself, hmm this is a good one, I go to the backup plan, safe mode, right? no, the safe mode will not login either. It looks like there maybe a command prompt fullscreen that starts, but its hard to say as it very quickly logs off. I have tried this several times, without success. Does this scenario sound familur to anyone?
    Thanks
    Steve

This is something you need to pursue in the software forum. We can not help you with malware issues until you can boot to a stable system. So I have moved your thread. :)

    You can try doing this:

I have the same problem! After doing a lot of research I came across this site.

Download BartPE on a CD and boot up your computer with it. At least that way you can get into your files. I figure a virus changed a file name so your system can't login correctly. I'm just in the process of finding that file. If I find it I will let you know. I posted a thread about this 2 days ago.

Follow the exact steps on this site.

The only thing you don't need to do is copy the Setup Windows XP SP2 files. Meaning, skip this paragraph: "Next you need to copy the setup files from a Windows XP SP2 install CD to your hard drive. If you do not have an XP Pro CD..."

I first opened Hijack This and fixed/deleted the files that looked suspicious to me, especially some of the login files. If you're unsure on which files to delete, look them up on google. After doing this, I was able to get into my user account and run a full scan of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to clean my computer. Your computer may run terribly slow at first, so just be patient with it!

Hope this has helped you in some way, and if you have any questions reply here. :)
