I had a the misfortunate idea to try and install my sister's old logitech webcam onto Window Vista using:

    http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/06/05/trick-to-use-logitech-quickcam-messenger-in-windows-vista/

I did manage to install the logitech computer onto my Computer -- which uses Vista, but that was because there were two key differences. My computer used Windows 32 and Hers used Windows 64, so I scrolled down the forum and found someone addressing Windows 64. The problem was that I didn't use Quickcam pro but Quickcam messenger 8.0, so it didn't work. Unfortunately, not only did the quickcam Not work -- but it also stopped sound.

I went to try and solve his problem, by going onto forums to figure out if there was a way to properly Uninstall the software and restore sound to the monitor speakers.

I got advice, and tried the first one of Re-installing the Audio Drivers. I looked up the Realtek website -- and got a Realtek high definition Audio driver (The lastest update for Windows Vista)

Still there was no sound, so I went to the registry Edit and followed this advice:

I managed to find all three folders and deleted every upperfilter and lowerfilter file that I found. There was nothing when I tried to CTRL F for LVUSBSTA. I then went and Reinstalled The RealTek high definition audio driver.

This time though, before reinstalling the driver, I tried to direct it to the Windows 64 folder located inside the zip I'd downloded from the RealTek support site..And I got a message telling me that the driver wasn't configured correctly.

I noticed however, that when running the Updater automatically, the driver is installed and looks normal -- but There is still no sound. :confused

    So here's my questions:

    1. If simply uninstalling any logitech software on the computer works, and I just use Regedit (and delete filters) to re-install the sound, is there a filter I am missing? :cry

Since the poster using Regedit was trying to get her keyboard and not her onboard speakers to work.. I'm wondering if I've gotten the wrong filters in the first place.

    3. Are there any other audio drivers that I could have possibly Missed and will also need to be reinstalled? And if I find them, will they work with Windows Vista 64 for this old monitor?

    4. I do have another computer in the house that runs on Windows Xp. Is it possible to switch the monitors -- and install the files for the monitor on windows XP that way? (If there is no way to install the files on windows Vista 64?)

The speakers that have been disabled is part of a Compaq Monitor, which is very different from the Desktop it has been hooked to. On everest report -- it looks like this:

And for the Monitor where I think the speakers are built into...

The monitor was part of a really old desktop set purchased around 2002, and the only thing that was kept when the computer was replaced was the monitor - which also happened to have the speakers built inside where you can tune the volume with a little dial located beneath the monitor, and the drivers on the HP website only has enough support up to Windows XP, so when I tried to install either one -- there was a program compatibility issue.

Looking further down the report page that Everest generated I find some more details.

I'm not sure if that particular section would be of any help but since it mentionied sound specs, I thought I'd post it up as well. I have the full report saved and will be willing to send it at any time, but it's around 43 pages long so..:zzz

Just the fact that A logitech driver still remains on this screen makes me wonder .. :confused

I uninstalled every thing Logitech that can be found in the Control panel remove programs list.

So, this is all that I've really been able to find, and I'd like some advice, because I don't want to do anything else to the registry that might mess up the computer -- and because I've been researching so far but to no avail.
