After a long brake with not using my gamepad I got NFS Undercover, and noticed that my computer doesn't recognize my gamepad anymore -.- ...

I plug the controller to my PC but it doesn't even give any kind of warning or something like "not detected" -text. I was thinking of editing my registry so that I delete all kinds of gamepad registry.
Because I have played GH3 on my pc with ps3 controller, which might have something to do with this. But I don't know what to delete from there. I tried deleting the Guitar Hero 3 PS3 Controller registry entries and Logitech entries, but it didn't help. Is there any drivers that might help or something? I'm desperate... I'm using Windows XP. The motherboard is ASUS P5QL PRO. I've heard that by installing the mobo drivers again or somthing might help. But if I need to format my PC I'll play with keyboard and mouse.

I don't know if you've already tried this, but here's a direct download link for the RumblePad2 wireless controller from Logitech. Install the software with the device unplugged, and restart the PC. Then go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the driver you just installed. Then restart the PC again. Then install the downloaded software again and reboot again. When Windows has loaded up again completely, plug in the controller and see what happens.
When you removed the PS3 controller entries from the registry, did you uninstall the drivers first from Add/Remove Programs (if possible)? Manual registry 'cleaning' is generally a bad idea unless you're very familiar with the registry and how it works. There are many safe registry cleaners available here at Major Geeks that are free and easy to and totally safe to use. CCleaner and Comodo Registry Cleaner are two I've used with good results. Here's the link to the RumblePad2 troubleshooting info at Logitech.

(I just looked at the Logitech web site again, and it appears there's two different RumblePad2 devices; the cordless one I linked to above, and a wired device with vibration feedback, but they use the same software)

Yeah. I first went to Add/Remove Programs and uninstalled the driver and software for my logitech device. With PS3 controller I didn't need to install any drivers. I'll try the lg502 tomorrow.

But does CCleaner clean the registry somehow? I've been using it for a while now, but I didn't think it would do anything to registry. Which ones of the boxes I should check in CCleaner. The image shows which boxes I have had checked when I've run the program. Oh and the language in the image is finnish, but the order is the same in every language in the program. Which one of those options appeals to registry?

I didn't need to use Add/Remove Programs since there wasn't any drivers to install for the PS3 controller. At least I think I didn't install anything. I tried installing the SIXAXIS thing from here http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=guitarhero&thread.id=20412 .

I did uninstall the Logitech drivers a few times and reinstalled and rebooted, but the controller just doesn't work.

Which ones of the options appeal to registry in CCleaner? I have these checked right now http://img371.imageshack.us/my.php?image=rumblepad2ce8.jpg . It's in finnish but the order is the same in every language.

    I'll try the lg502 tomorrow.

Attached below is a screen shot of CCleaner highlighting the registry cleaning feature. You should also try using Revo Uninstaller to uninstall the software, it not only removes the software, but it also completely removes all registry entries and files created during installation. Add/Remove Programs usually leaves a lot of stuff behind during an uninstall...

    The controller works now :D.
I just ran the registry cleaning in CCleaner and now my computer detects my gamepad.
    Thank you very much! ^^

The problem reappeared. I connected the controller to my pc and it did detect it. But only for like 5 seconds.

When I was playing NFS Undercover yesterday it worked really nice, except maybe once every 30mins it went "undetected" and then it gets detected again. Only for maybe like 0.5-1 second. Then it stopped detecting it. I reinstalled the software and it did the same thing. It won't remain detected :/

Could this be hardware problem or is there something else I could try to do?

EDIT: And when I change between the USB ports. It sometimes stays a longer time detected. The frontright USB port seems to detect it less, while the left one seems to work better.

Try one of the rear ports, or buy a PCI card. PCI cards with 4 USB ports are easy to install and generally under $25 at any PC store. If the problem continues with the USB card, then we know the problem is with the controller. Have you used the controller on a different PC? If so, and it's OK on a different PC, then the problem is most likely your motherboard USB controller, and a PCI USB card should get the controller working fine.... do other USB devices work OK?

Every other USB device work the way they should, no problems with them. And this controller does work on other PCs. There is something wrong with the drivers for the controller or something...

I noticed that the controller works great on most of the games. So it's just a compatibility problem with MGS1 I'm having.
