    Hey guys.

This afternoon I bought a Logitech Rumblepad 2 gamepad. It was just the gamepad alone with no software, etc.

I have been trying to find a WINXP driver for it, but no luck :( .

    Windows XP says "unrecognized driver".

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

    Thanks!

logitech.com , if all else fails, hands down best controller for the PC right now is the Xbox360 wired controller (connects through usb), has rumble and everything too!

The one from Logitech doesn't work. I've read of this problem with others too.

Thanks very much for your time guys!

    Any more help?

    Thanks!

    Mine works fine.

Can you give a precise error, word for word?

Sure, when I plug it in, I get a popup from the taskbar on the bottom right saying:

    "USB Device Not Recognized
One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it"

And sometimes the controller starts vibrating.

Also, I found some codes on sourceforge, but I do not know how to use them.

    Thanks.

I'll have to get to a Windows machine a little later, but I think the cure here is to delete the enum key in the registry for the device. I'll post back on it a bit later.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB\Vid_046d&Pid_c218

This is the enum key for my Rumblepad 2.

Open up regiedit, back it up and delete it. Unplug the controller prior. Then reboot, install the latest software again and when prompted, hook up the controller.

Note this is a protected key. You'll need to right click and go to permissions, then give the Everyoone group full control, before you will be able to delete it.

The permissions will reset when the key rebuilds.

Now...if Windows doesn't know what that device is, it will be a bit more involved.

Go to regedit again. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB

Expand it out. You will see several VID folders with extra characters after them. Expand each VID folder. There will be a numbered folder below it. Highlight it. To the right will be a value called DeviceDesc. Find any that have a description of say unknown device, etc.

There may be several entries, so check the subkey of each VID entry. Just make sure you BACK UP WHATEVER YOU DELETE.

I'm attaching a screenshot for reference.

Thanks for your continued support; greatly appreciated!

I cannot find the Enum\USB\Vid_046d&Pid_c218 but I did find:

    Enum\USB\Vid_046d&Pid_5108

I don't see any Logitech one in there. I've attached a screenshot.

Keep looking. Notice to the right where it says DeviceDesc?

This one says USB Mass Storage Device. You are looking for something along the lines of unknown, etc.

Here are the other 5 ones in regedit:

    AHA! Could it be rpad5.jpg?

    The "USB/UNKNOWN" ?

I found a 'folder' in regedit "LogiDevice" .

I have a joystick that I also installed after this one failed; is it from that one. The joystick is a Wingman digital 3d

    Thanks.

Do you have the CD that you got with the gamepad?

If so, could you please copy me the CDDrive\MULTI\Drivers folder?

    It should be in there.

    Thank you so much!

I extracted the driver from the latest Logitech software. I'll need an email address to send it.

    PM it to me.
