Logitech Trackman Slow/Intermittent Clicking

Greetings yet again fellow Geeks -

It seems my Logitech Trackman misses clicks. Sometimes when I click, nothing happens. It is almost like my computer is doing something else in the background and has to catch up with my mouse click. Not in the sense that it opens/closes windows slowly or pauses when I click, the clicks just don't register. This might go on for about a second or so, then it works. As far as I can tell, rollover is working, but not clicking. It seems to happen at least 1/3 of the time.

Initially I only had the standard Vista drivers running the thing. When things went wonky, I uninstalled the device and installed the newest Logitech drivers. I tinkered with the settings, no luck.

I don't think it is a virus, and there are no suspect programs running in the background. I am running up-to-date Vista on an AMD 5600 x2 with 2 gigs of ram.

Could it be some sort of IRQ conflict or something? Other mouse functions seem to work fine. I am going to locate my wireless mouse and give that a go. I might be able to diagnose it as a physical problem with the Trackman itself, a driver/OS issue, depending on the performance of the wireless mouse.

Any suggestions? Thanks for any help.

 

Did you got to their website to see if they have an updated driver?

 

Yes, I installed the most recent driver. In the meantime, I have been using my wireless mouse. So far so good. So, it is either a Vista problem with that particular mouse or physical problem with the button.

I will clean the Trackman as best I can and give the old sophomore try.
