Mobo A8N-E with AC '97 5.1 audio. My right front has been buzzing for a while and has quit, not such a big deal right? but now if I listen in 5.1 mode all I get is the front left and the sub though and if I hit the Matrix button, everything comes on except for the right front which I suspected anyways.

I have done some googling on why this maybe but I haven't really found anything to bring those two situations together.

I've also tried to find an online manual of what goes where with no luck either. There was some crackling when I touched the cables from the mobo for some reason but not much but enough to scare me.

I do have an old SB 5.1 card but that would be the last resort. Any ideas all? Thank you.

have you tried your speakers with another comp, mp3 player, etc (to eliminate the speakers)? have you tried a different set of speakers on your comp? or, are you able to switch your right/left speakers (for testing purposes)? what about the cable to your speakers?

fyi, i have the 2 sets of the logitech - z5450's (1 for my comp in the study, and 1 for my hd tv that my mom gave me), and i love them (i especially like the wireless rear speakers)!! - sos

Only other comp I have is the one with the SB 5.1 card in there and plus the monitor has gone south on that too! I guess I have no choice then, it's move the SB 5.1 over and even then I might not find out. That would be way better than moving the sub etc. BTW, no issues on the driver for AC '97.

Thanks for the edited link sosaman, Logitech wouldn't give me that for some reason! I will check out their forums as I also loved these speakers until now and won't mind if I have to replace one. It's not the first time I've blown speakers but it is a first on a PC.

Great link sosaman, both the sub's outputs work fine. I have a confirmed dead speaker. Now to see how much it will cost me as I've lost the warranty.

I'm still wondering about the Matrix thing but I'll post in their forums. I'll report back as to what happened. Thanks again! (Brings to mind now, what the heck is the lack of my google technique!):D

sorry, to hear about your speaker. i've actually posted (i think), or at least read on their forums. it's hard to get speaker stands for my model speakers, so that's what i was doing there. i actually have my rear speakers mounted sideways on the stands. other than that, i'd have to modify the bracket(s) somehow. anyway, g/l - sos
