logon problems

hi ive got a problem ive just installed a new hard drive and put windows xp pro on and everytime i log on i have a log on screen with my name and ask for my password i have to click on ok to start windows ive been into user accounts and tried turning off in there but no joy i cannot switch users but the accounts are there i have been into safe mode and there is no admin right any help will be good

 

log in as administrator and delete all the other accounts. thats what i would try?sorry if i didn't help...

 

I'm actually somewhat sidetracked here, but sounds like you don't have the Welcome screen enabled.


In user accounts applet in the control panel, go to where it says Change the Way Users Log On and Off and enable the Welcome Screen.

 

still no joy andraline tried that it was switched off but rebotted and still get log onto windows box appear with my name and asks for password to overcome this i just press ok and windows starts

 

Are you using any type of remote software like PC Anywhere?

PC Anywhere will you a different gina.dll file that can keep the welcome screen from working.


Go to the properties of your NIC. What Network components are installed?

 

in my nic i have got these client for microsoft networks

file and printer sharing for microsoft networks
qos packet scheduler and
internet protocol (TCP/IP) HOPE THIS HELPS
