hey guys its been a long time since I have posted here or any where else for that matter but since I've been gone the pc I started with is still the same just lot's of problems which i am sure will be taken care of in time I believe this to be the best site on the net and appreciate everyone invoved for keeping things up to date and all the expertise found here. before I get in to problems with this $^^%$&&* pc got a question about fire walls spyware and antivirus programs. currently running zone alarm,SpyGuard,Scotty patrol,Avast antivirus as you can tell I like the free stuff, anyways unknown to me the dsl we are using offers programs I guess were free at one time but are now being charged 4.99 a month The programs are from CA (Computer Associates) Ez armour, etrust antispam & Pest patrol Antispyware one of the problems I am having problems is with speed like logging on ect..... which is probably not all connected to the antispyware firewall ect... that I'm running, but other issues that I hoped to get addressed later on.Would it be better to keep what I have or even streamline that or go with the Ca stuff I know some programs are real resorce hogs like symtec no offense to norton users and I don't know a whole lot about anything just what I read and learn (sometimes by trial and error) sometimes lots of errors lol thanks in advance

In my opinion, why not try the CA stuff. See if the combination works better on your system as far as resource usage goes etc. You can always go back to ZoneAlarm.

I find the combination that works best on my system is Kerio4 firewall, AVG 7.5 antispyware (formerlly Ewido), and NOD32. I also have Spybot, SpywareBlaster, Ad-Aware SE, SpyGuard, and CWShredder.

Doesn't hurt to experiment. Just don't run two firewalls or antivirus programs at the same time.

I have Zone Alarm, Avast!, AVG antispyware, Spybot, Ad-Aware, Spyblaster, Spyguard, and Spysweeper, and they keep me pretty clean. I would say stick to the stuff you have now, most of those products offered by broadband companies are crappy and resource hogs.

CA used to offer the premiere free antivirus.

There antivirus now isn't that much different. I find it works a lot faster on my system than any other I've tried.
