ok everyone, i haven't seen a thread for this yet. i am wondering with microsoft annoucing that they are stipping down longhorn to make the ship date, what do ya'll think the new os is gonna be like? any specualtions or just thoughts about the new os and them stripping it down for the ship date WHICH they said they weren't going to do. lets hear all ya'lls thoughts.

two words... can't wait. the screenshots look awesome and i can't wait to go out and get it. the new file system look cool and i like the new look.

 

Well the time line for me looks like i am going to be stuck with this computer till 2008. Unless i win the Lotto.

That should have given microsoft enough time to fix any bugs, and hopefully the price will be lower. Plus there will probley be some 64bit 5400+ or something...so im starting to save my money now.

Don't even tap your foot impatiently. I keep hearing conjecture that it may end up been 2007. MS is famous for slipping release dates for new operating systems. I'll believe it when it actually shows up. Until then, XP will do.

Jeeezz.... no no no no no! When will they get it into their heads, DON'T rush the dates and don't rip stuff out of the OS to finish it sooner. It just doesn't work! I'm quite happy with XP right now, and I don't want to upgrade to longhorn and suddenly find that its only half finished and has a crapload of bugs in it.

 

It's only going to bring four major things:

More bloat
More copy control bullshit
More money for us to shell out to Microsoft
An even more retarded user interface

 

New filesystem wont be there from what ive read. Too bad Reiser4 was just released Windows really falling behind on their filesystem. Hopefully this release will be secure and stable as long as they are waiting.
