Lookin at new LCD monitors

I've saved up a little and am thinkin about buying a new LCD monitor.

right now i'm lookin at the Samsung 710T-Black (12ms response time) and the
Philips 170B5CB (16ms response time).

I loved the last one i had (Viewsonic VP191b) even thought there was minor ghosting... but i couldnt afford to keep the sucker at $750...


how do those look for the under $500 price range for a good 17" LCD?

any opinions welcome.

 

I've heard very good things about:
Samsung 172X
ViewSonic VP171

But both of those are about $530 on Newegg. Personally, I don't think you can go wrong with Samsung, and ViewSonic is almost as good. If you're a gamer, I don't think I could pass up Samsung's impressive 12ms response times, though.
