   maxdamage Private First Class

   Is there a freeware based disk checking utility like the windows chdsk one in Win xp but one I can check,fix errors,check to see if files size is correct,etc.. in windows itself without having to reboot computer for it to do the scans,etc..?

   Just Playin MajorGeek

   You don't need to reboot to run checkdisk. Copy and paste this into the Run dialog in the Start menu:
   C:\WINDOWS\system32\chkdsk.exe
   or type in:
   chkdsk
