Looking for a certain Adobe product

    I don't know much about this kind of software, but I'm planning to buy Adobe Acrobat (correct?). But I want the software where I can read AND edit/write in the .PDF files. I've never fully understood what is the difference between Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat. I'm assuming that you can actually edit in Acrobat, someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

    Yes you are correct Adobe Acrobat Reader just reads PDFs where as Acrobat Pro ( which is soon to go version 8 ) will read and edit, it also allows you to convert many document types to PDF format, noteable ones are Word, Excel etc and as Acrobat Pro adds conversion buttons to MS Office it makes it easier to convert docs to PDF.

    Editing text etc in Acrobat Pro is achieved in the Tools > Advanced editing menu.


    There are also some other cheaper PDF converters, readers and editors available.
