Looking for a fax program

Howdy. I'm looking for a good, simple to use, free fax program to use with XP. There was one on here with Win2000 but that died and the boys reinstalled XP Pro Corp edition. Now the fax program is gone.

I tried using Search and found the files but they wouldn't install for me. So I went to tucows and download.com. I downloaded Snappy Fax version 3 and installed it. Unfortunately, shortly thereafter my modem burned out. Since the modem wasn't that old and no storms in the area, I am very leary about reinstalling that program. Besides, it had way more stuff on it than I am looking for.

I just want a simple program that will answer the phone, receive and store the fax and send one back out if I need too.

I even went to microsoft.com but didn't find one.

 

Great! Except for one minor detail.... it wants the SP2 CD which I don't have. Guess I will have to get with Sean and have him bring his copy over here so I can install the program.

But I knew somebody here would have an answer for me. Thanks much.

 

I have been using a free fax software called v3com callcenter. It has everything you are asking for. Here is the website to check it out.

OK, still working at getting a fax program installed. CAn't get hold of Sean to bring his disc over so I went to M$.com and downloaded SP2, burned to a CD. Naturally, it doesn't work.

Next, I went ahead and started installing the program anyway. As it called for a dll file, I downloaded and installed it, one by one.

Except it asks for fxsdrive.dll and the closest I can find is fxsdrv.dll. Could this be the same file with a new name? I went ahead and downloaded it anyway. The other file I need is called fxssvc.exe.

Anyone know where I might find that file? It's not available on either dll site I went to or M$.com. Wonder if it is on my regular XP disc.... I might go ahead and try that. Can't hurt to try.

I will also check out that other program. Can't hurt to check it out either..

 

That was really wierd..... i went to that site and downloaded the program but it installed 20/20, a graphics program. I'll go back and redownload it.

 

Nope, same thing. It seems to download fine but installs the graphics program instead.

 

Yeah, that's about what I found when I searched too. However, I got a good CD and now have the fax console set up to work. would have been nice to check out that other one tho..... oh well.

 

Not clear to me from their website: Does this program work with DSL?

 

OK, thanks. I do have an internal 56K modem but I'm not sure I'd fax enough to bother trying to set things up.
