looking for a free,simple file splitter

i need to split a file so it will fit on a disk.i tried a few programs but couldnt understand how to use it.is there a program that will let you split a file into 2 equal parts?and it has to be easy for a dummy like me,thanks in advance

 

What exactly are your trying to do? Split files up so you can store them on floppy disks to be later recombined on another computer, or split them on to floppies for storage for latter use on your computer?

ok,ill try to do a better job at telling you why im having so much trouble with this.ive tried several programs,but they split into smaller peices by,mbs,i think,and i know nothing about that.what i want to do is split my file into 2 large equal parts,a part1 and a part2,i guess you could say,so that i can fit the file on a cd.but i havent seen anyprogram that will do that,or at least one i can understand.anymore replys welcome,because im gonna have to delete it tomorrow if i dont figure this out,thanks

 

If you mean split a program in half, out it on 2 CD's, and then run it that way, not gonna happen. You could split the program with a file splitter but it won't be executable, until you recombine it.

 

no,im wanting to put both halves on ONE cd.it can be done,because i did it with easy video splitter about 3 years ago with someone who walked me through it step by step.i downloaded it again,but i didnt understand the directions about how to do it.guess ill just delete the stupid file

 

A video file is not a program file, that makes a huge difference in the responses you will get from the members of this forum.
