This one really neat program that I found VERY useful back on XP was Norton GoBack. However, it's not compatible with Vista. Could anyone point me to other substitutes for it? Basically any program which can revert a whole partition to an earlier time WITHOUT NEEDING TO MAKE A 1:1 IMAGE OF IT SOMEWHERE, IOW without the need of an exaggeratedly-large history file. NOTE: YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE SURE THAT IT'S VISTA COMPATIBLE AT THE MOMENT, I only need a list of such programs, I'll handle the rest of the way.

Guess you wont like my answer then, It was not compatible when ME was released either, odds are it will work with Vista on the next update. I say this because i am unaware of a competitior.

Probably because its not compatible with some of their own products and tends to wreak havoc on a lot of computers, the reason I use images, which, though you dont want to do that, is a much easier and effective way :( Sometimes, the answer you dont want IS the answer. Sorry.

    Good luck!

    Vista features:

One of the many features, is an upgraded version of system restore:

I see no point in using goback, with this built into vista. :)

Vista's SR does not encompas everything that is changed on the harddrive although it tries to, and if Vista dies so does the SR. For many reasons GB > SR.

You didn't read the entire post, that I posted. Using the DVD, you can boot into a vista environment, that you can then restore to a different restore point.

I have seen goback get corrupted, to the point that it was unable to boot into the system. Using a bootable floppy from symantec, to remove goback, was the only way to get the system running.
