Looking For A Good Multiplayer FPS Focused On Vehicle/Aircraft Combat

I was wondering if anyone had any reccomendations. I tried battlefield 2142 and 2 and wasn't super impressed.

I would really like to find a helicopter vs helicopter mmo fps or spaceship vs spaceship etc.

anyone know of anything like this in first person perspective not third.

 

Maybe Mercenaries 2: World In Flames but that is 3rd person & not restricted to helicopters :confused

Maybe Mech Warrior 4 but that is super old now...2004 I think, I have it & it's just too old for my PC. It is also super rare & hard to find, the basic idea of the game is you are the commander of walking tanks which you can operate from many different views first person I am not sure but it worth a go :-D

Freelancer is a good spaceship game but I can't remember if it's first person, that is entirely in space ships. It is from 2002 but it's from Microsoft so it hasn't dated too badly.

Ah I have it, X3 Reunion can be First person if you get the special edition with the cockpit mod, that is a massive universe similar to Freelancer but... Bigger & newer.

Freelancer is mostly 3rd person, but can be played from first person.

Warhawk on PS3 has foot and vehicle combat.

 

I guarantee X3 Reunion 2.0 2007 Bonus pack will be exactly what you're looking for, but I warn you it's a little slow :-D

You can do everything you can do in Freelancer & more, like mining, owning space stations, controlling sectors of space.

It is a great game with amazing graphics but it just plays to slow for me :-D

looks awesome, but really I am looking for multiplayer I enjoy that aspect too much. I may just stick with battlefield vietnam, but the problem is its so old not many still play it. I was l33t back in the day. XD Something about getting really good and slaughtering noobs brings joy to my heart and meaning to my life.

 

im playing vendetta online at the moment but the graphics really suck, and its got a monthly rate on it.

thanks man, I already play eve its great but no dogfighting at all. I played the battlefield 2142 series hoping for lots of multiplayer dogfights it didn't work out so well. The X3 series are all offline games but they are very fun.

I think eternal silence is the game I have been looking for, it has lots of space dogfights, multiplayer. It's free also if you own a copy of HL2 you can get it off steam.

Well back in the day with battlefield Vietnam, there used to be all helicopter servers with nothing but dogfights. It was truly an awesome experience. I still play it. This new eternal silence game though is exactly what I've been looking for, its really fun. If you own a copy of half life 2 its free because its a mod. If you don't I highly recommend it hl2 basic is $9.99 on steam.

Also I still enjoy the battlefield 1942 series with tank on tank combat.

I just don't have much fun running around as a person with a rifle, shooting other people. Dogfights tank fights etc are my thing.

I haven't heard of any really good multiplayer flight sims, can you recommend some?

For later:ARMA 2or Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising may suit you. They aren't released yet. In the mean time, well there is the original games...there are the battlefield games (battlefield 1942, Battlefield Vietnam, Battlefield 2, Battlefield 2142 and quakewars enemy territory. Though you said you already tried battlefield 2, battlefield 2142.
There really aren't a lot of mutiplayer games focused so heavily on vehicles, but at least in all of those, you can choose to be someone in a tank/aircraft, sorta thing.
