Looking for a hard drive enclosure

I'm looking for a hard drive enclosure. The hard drive is a laptop drive. It's a Hitachi drive, model number HTS541616J9AT00. It says ATA/IDE on it. I purchased a SATA enclosure and an IDE enclosure and neither fit the hard drive. Could someone please link some products that would work with this hard drive (preferably from newegg)? Thanks.

 

Since your hard drive is not SATA, a SATA enclosure will not work. Exactly what model IDE enclosure did you get? Why does your drive not fit in it?

Edit: I see your hard drive is "ATA-6". While that falls in the IDE category, I believe it's a bit different in some way than most IDE drives and I'm wondering whether that is the reason your hard drive did not fit in the IDE enclosure. So, this point may need some more research before you buy another enclosure.

 

Per What is ATA-6?, I believe any 2.5" IDE hard drive should work with your drive.

 

The IDE enclosure I have has like 2 rows of square holes for the connectors (internal) so I guess that's the IDE part. The hard drive has this:

It's a single row of long flat 'pins' which are rounded at the ends that connect inside the laptop.

 

If you pull gently but firmly on the "single row of long flat pins" you will find that it is a normal IDE laptop drive with an adapter on it.
