Looking for a Notebook

    Hi all, this might not be the place for this so sorry about that but i just wanted everybodies opinons on what laptop to buy. I was thinking of a thinkpad R series, but i am not sure. I can bascially only spend about 1000 or less and i really want a fast one along with at least 512mb ram and 60Gb hardrive. Can someone either tell me if i can get something like that for that price, or just let me know on what notebooks you all like.

    Hardware forum would be best for this question, but besides that just so I can get a figure in my head... what currency you using? ( eg. I'm in UK so £1000 is more like us$1800 )

    I bougth one a while back and looked a fair bit into what I wanted to use it for, then taylored my seach around that, ended up with a Compaq R4065 which I would definatly recomend, however its not in the sense a portable as its heavier than say some thin and light Centrino's, it's more a desktop replacement that is portable.

    I did a fair bit of reading here http://www.notebookreview.com/ as the reviews are mostly by other users.

    You can get an iBook with those specs for that price.

    I'd wait till 2006 though, when they debut with Intel CPUs. Rumor is January.

    Halo, I am using U.S. currency. I was looking at toshiba and also acer, but some of them have want i want for around 800-900, but they do not have windows xp on it, and it costs like 300 dollars more for windows xp..i think that is alittle ridiculous
